Play Therapy
Children express their thinking through their play. Play therapy is an effective tool for children to deal with different kinds of life challenges. In play therapy children learn how to grow in the world that sometimes puzzles them and becomes overwhelming.
Play Therapy is the use of specially chosen toys and various other medium (e.g., sand tray, puppets, dollhouse, clay sculpting, drawing, painting, music making, etc.) that are used to ‘play out’ or express their internal and external struggles, and what follows gain understanding and resolution of the problems.
As a play therapist I allow each child to be who they are in order to find their own strengths and beauty within themselves. I speak child’s language and am able to decipher different play themes (e.g. aggressive, nurturing, or mastery) to assist children with gaining invaluable insight into their fears, uncertainties, and other complex emotions. I also may implement necessary interventions to help the child develop constructive coping skills in order to thrive in the world.
